Since I've Been Spayed/Neutered

I look forward to food time, not ways to get in 'trouble' and add more unwanted puppies into already crowded shelters and rescues, or worse, to terrible means of disposal by ruthless, merciless humans.

The Houlton Humane Society provides assistance funds toward spay/neuter.

It's easy as 1-2-3 to apply:

  Obtain an application. You must live in one of the towns serviced by the Shelter. Call 532-2862 to have one mailed to you; visit the Shelter at 263 Callaghan Rd., Houlton; print/download a form from the link below. A $2.00 Application Fee is required before your loan will be considered.

  Complete the form. Use the following chart for amount you are requesting:
         Maximum Loan Amounts (Updated 2/07):
         Male Cat (neuter)    $20.00
         Female Cat (spay)   $30.00
         Male Dog (neuter)   $30.00
         Female Dog (spay)  $40.00

  Return Application & $2.00 Fee to Shelter.

If money is available and you receive a loan, you will receive a DATED Certificate. Be sure to have the surgery before the Expiration Date, otherwise you will have to start the application process over again and pay another fee.
